Well, our long awaited summer break has finally arrived. We had a really jam packed school year in all three Science classes. In 6th grade we covered Earth Science from the bottom up and ended with the Earth's atmosphere. The student's final projects were exceptional in their scope and delivery. In 7th grade we ended on human disease and health. Again, the student's projects revealed their intense focus and great group cooperation. Our eighth graders (who I will miss a lot) ended their final days of Science with the annual "rocket launch" and creating carbon dioxide in the lab. If the whole year was half as fun for them as it was for me, I consider the year a success. I would like to welcome our 5th graders to Junior High, and in particular to my homeroom, Religion, Math, and Science. You will be studying the Old Testament in Religion, in Science you will be studying the earth, and in Math you will cover basic math, pre-algebra, geometry, and some probability. To all my students I recommend doing some Math work every week so that your brain synapses stay in good working order. For any student who reads this over the summer and can tell me what brain synapses are you will start off the year with 10 pts. extra credit. Enjoy our summer, and see you in August. Sincerely, Mrs. Sellen |
