Well, the year has certainly blown by. I have had a great time teaching Physical Education here at St. Mary School this year. I hope the children have enjoyed it as much as I have. I have also really enjoyed meeting and getting to know some of the parents here. I want to say “You Parents” are some of the best I have come across. I have had so many parents introduce themselves to me, compliment me, and thank me for teaching and/or coaching their children. I would like to say “Thank You” for being so wonderful and supportive and making me feel welcome during my first year at SMS!

We have covered many different units this year. Included are the traditional team sports such as basketball, volleyball, and softball and other non-traditional units such as pickleball, roller skating, ultimate frisbee, and wall climbing. The younger ones worked a lot on locomotor skills (walking, running, jumping, hopping, skipping, galloping, and leaping), learned to jump rope, roller skate, hand-eye coordination, wall climbing (which they did terrific with) and lots of maipulatives (scooters, bean bags, various types of balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops). I hope I was able to expose the children to some new and exciting ways to enjoy Physical Education and helped to develop some gross motor skills.

I’m looking forward to returning next year and introducing some more new units and keeping some of the “tried and true ones”. I am looking for any good ideas to raise money for more equipment and to introduce new concepts into my curriculum. I have a BIG “wish list”!!!
