Dear Fifth Grade Parents and Students:

We had a fantastic year!!! The students worked very hard. The country reports were wonderful. We had a terrific day for our field trip to Donley's Western Town..

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents for all their contributions that made our year great. Many thanks to our room mothers: Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Etheridge, and Mrs. Wirkus. They provided treats and organized the help for parties and projects. Special thanks to Mrs. Butler who helped with the clean-up last Friday and provided the popsicles!!!

I'd also like to thanks our musical Dads: Mr. Butler and Mr. Wilson. They provided beautiful accompaniment for our class masses and one of our all school masses. Their talented children, Anna Butler and Adam Wilson, along with Katie and Heather, used their God-given talents as well.

Mrs. Greensley, Heather's Mom, is a geologist. She sent in many rock and mineral samples for us to use in class. She also purchased mineral sets, rock sets, and hardness-testing sets for the school. She has offered to give a presentation to the class next year, We will be collaborating with next year's sixth graders, YOU, to make an aquifer with her guidance.

Thanks goes out to Mr. Jovanovich for giving a lesson on stock-purchasing. He taught the class how to make predictions about stock by using past performance and predicted growth rate. The class did well in the game. We had some groups that ranked fairly high.

This was a very caring and giving class. It would take too long to list all the help. So, thank you to everyone who sent treats, worked a game at the party, sent erasable pens or dry-erase markers, and anyone else who helped in any way. You all helped to make this a successful year.

I hope you all enjoy your summer. I plan to get to a Cubs game and take a class at NIU. I also plan to get some rest before we gear up for next year.

We will truly miss all the students who are moving. We wish you luck at your new school. Have a wonderful summer!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pelikan
