Education classes Holy Days of Obligation are special feasts on which we as Catholics are seriously obliged, as on Sundays, to attend Mass and to avoid unnecessary work. When a Holy Day falls on a Saturday or Monday, the obligation to attend is generally commuted to Sunday; however it is a good practice to attend Mass nonetheless.
BAPTISM RECONCILIATION HOLY EUCHARIST First Communion Communion of the Sick CONFIRMATION Contact the Office of Youth Ministry for more information. MARRIAGE Those planning marriages should contact the Parish Office before any other wedding plans are made. Pre-marriage preparation programs should be attended at least six months prior to the date of the marriage. To assist in the preparation, the parish provides meetings with the parish priest and/or other staff members. Couples are also asked to participate in an engaged encounter weekend sponsored through the Diocese of Rockford. ANOINTING OF THE SICK If you are going to have major surgery or are seriously ill and would like to receive the grace and healing of the Anointing of the Sick, please contact the Parish Office. RCIA The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a process for forming new members of the Catholic community. The RCIA is addressed primarily to Catholics who have been baptized but have never received formal training, baptized members of other traditions seeking a relationship with the Catholic Church, and the unchurched. For more information, visit our RCIA page. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS AND CEMETERY Funeral arrangements are handled by the funeral home director who in turn contacts the Parish Office for specific arrangements. The Funeral Committee is responsible for planning and hosting a luncheon following the Funeral Mass, if the family so chooses. The family may contact the Parish Office at any time if they have questions. For information on St. Mary Cemetery, please see below.
Feel free to contact the Parish Office or visit us for information on our new member program and to become registered with St. Mary Parish. Our new member program includes an orientation session to effectively introduce the new member(s) to the community. All who have experienced the orientation find it a very positive and unique aspect to being a new member at St. Mary Parish. This page last modified on April 4, 2008
